Earlier, on May 8, it was reported that the United States plans to provide Ukraine with additional military assistance in the amount of $1.2 billion to strengthen its air defense (AD) capabilities in the long term. The new military assistance package will include funds for the production of Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are planned to be transferred to Kyiv.

In addition, the money will be directed to the production of artillery shells and missiles, as well as providing access to satellite images. The funds are planned to be distributed over several months or even years to meet the needs of Ukraine in the future. It is noted that weapons are not allocated from the available stocks of the Pentagon.

However, already on May 10, the Ukrainian side presented some fragments, which, as claimed, belonged to the latest Russian missile.

At the same time, photographs appeared in the Western media of a small exhibition of the remnants of missiles of various kinds, which was organized for the media in Kyiv. The main exhibit of the exposition was signed as follows: "one-piece shell of the warhead of the 9-S-7760 aeroballistic missile of the Kinzhal aviation missile system." The object that was shown with this tablet visually has nothing to do with the elegant sharp-nosed hypersonic missile "Dagger" , but more like an artillery shell for guns from the First World War.

But, oddly enough, this is exactly what a concrete-piercing penetrating warhead of a modern missile or guided bomb should look like. Physically, this object is located inside the streamlined and by no means concrete-piercing missile body immediately behind the radar homing antenna. When it hits the target, this warhead pierces the structure of the head fairing, hits concrete floors with great energy and goes deep into the ground, where it explodes after a while, destroying the object. It can be a protected headquarters, a warehouse, an ammunition depot, and any other similar target. It is clear that this warhead does not need to be streamlined, and it is not in the air flow when flying in hypersonics - this is the fate of the outer body of the rocket.

What kind of warhead did they show us? But this is unknown. Yes, hypersonic Kinzhal missiles can be equipped with this type of penetrating warhead. But the 9M723 of the Iskander-M complex, which have much in common with the hypersonic Kinzhal in their design, can also. Both those and others are produced by the Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering from Kolomna, and indeed, probably, only the creators, by phenotypic characteristics, will be able to accurately determine where and which rocket the fragment is.

By the way, next to the exhibition lay the aerodynamic steering wheel of the product - either one or the other. There were also other fragments of the structure, which may also belong to both missiles developed by KBM.

Hypotheses
You can go through the hypotheses that a trained observer can form. Can the shown remains belong to the missile of the Kinzhal complex? They can. Can these fragments belong to the 9M723 Iskander-M missile? They can. And here it must be recalled that the "Daggers" were used in the NWO against targets in Ukraine a counted number of times. But the 9M723 missiles were used by at least dozens, and their remains are definitely at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the first important point.

Are there emergency launches of combat missiles? Certainly. The missile launches and for some reason may no longer be controlled by the homing system. In this case, the ammunition falls to the ground somewhere near the target object and does not even necessarily explode, because if the systems failed somewhere in the middle of the flight, then the fuse may not be cocked. This can happen due to a loss of power or as a result of some more serious breakdown.

When falling, the rocket is destroyed. But the warhead is the strongest part of it, and it very often remains intact. In some cases, it flies tens of meters from the place where the product itself fell. That is, the remains of the rocket could be at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and because of the emergency.

Theoretically, a hypersonic missile can be shot down, like any object. Place a pallet of bricks at the right time at the right point in the path of Elon Musk's rocket and it will stop flying no matter what. This is the basis for the interception of ballistic missiles by anti-missile defense systems. The Armed Forces of Ukraine now have Patriot PAC-3 anti-aircraft missile systems with enhanced capabilities for intercepting ballistic missiles.

What is the likelihood that such a Patriot could bring down the "Dagger"? In 2015-2017, Saudi Patriots of the same modification hit Yemeni ballistic missiles of the old Soviet R-17 Scud class with varying success. And it was with varying success, that is, the probability of defeat was far from 100%. If we are talking about the modern 9M723 Iskander-M, or even more so about the hypersonic Kinzhal, then the probability of hitting such a missile with a Patriot is much lower. But, alas, it is not zero. Unlikely, but under the circumstances it is possible.

And now we should also remember the chronology of events. On May 4, it was reported that the Patriot air defense system had intercepted the Kinzhal missile. There was no information that a missile strike with "Daggers" was possible. Although earlier, with every takeoff of the MiG-31I carrier in Belarus or somewhere else throughout Ukraine, an air raid alert was announced. And officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not confirm this news. But, probably, a few days later - by May 9 - they decided to play the situation back and arranged an exhibition of "remains of Russian missiles" for especially close Western journalists.

Apparently, Kiev has a need for reports: on the success of the newly deployed Patriot, on the success of the tanks delivered, the Hymars, and now the Storm Shadow missiles. It is necessary to report for the use of any supplied weapons systems and, of course, it is simply necessary to prepare such an unexpected “victory” and show it to the whole world. Which, apparently, was done. Well, the fact that the exhibits for the exhibition were found in the conditions of the active use of missile weapons against designated targets should not surprise anyone.
