Microsoft's AI job cuts: AI is taking jobs at Microsoft, but not for the reasons you're thinking. Reports from Bloomberg said the company was about to announce thousands of job cuts next month, aimed in large part at sales and marketing teams. AI, however, is not taking those roles — smaller third-party firms will handle that work on contract. But the move comes as the company is under pressure from Wall Street to tighten its belt amid massive AI spending. At the same time, Microsoft's leadership in the AI space amid its Big Tech cohort is under question, as the future of its $20 billion relationship with OpenAI is on the rocks while the two companies hash out a new deal.
