Stayed - you spent at least a night there
Visited - you visited some place there as your destination, with or without spending a night there
Stopped - you drove through and stopped for food or something like that. Or you had a connecting flight there and you got off the plane.
Passed - you drove through there but never stopped. Or your flight stopped there to let some passengers on or off, and you never got off the plane.
