Shiyou Wu, an associate professor at the School of Social Work, was arrested for alleged "aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation," according to court documents.
Wu's arrest was made known in a Reddit post on April 22. Court documents showed the alleged crime took place on April 18, with a status conference set for Thursday. Wu did not respond to a request for comment.
A spokesperson for the Chandler Police Department confirmed the April 21 arrest.
Wu currently works on numerous graduate-level courses and serves as the assistant director for China Initiatives of the ASU Global Center for Applied Health Research.
"Shiyou Wu has been placed on administrative leave and is prohibited from accessing campus or engaging in any Arizona State University activities while the university undertakes action in accordance with Arizona Board of Regents and ASU policy," an ASU spokesperson said. "As this matter involves an active personnel matter, we are unable to offer additional comment at this time."
Wu is also the president of the Asian & Pacific Islander Social Work Educators Association and a faculty affiliate of the ASU Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center and Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy.

Wu allegedly arranged a sexual encounter with a person he thought was a 15-year-old boy but was actually an undercover officer posing as a teen online.
