KUTV reporter Heidi Hatch wrote on X that she was covering the event, which took place at Utah Valley University, when shots rang out, allegedly fired at Kirk.
"Oh my God my son was just at the Charlie Kirk event on UVU campus said shots were fired Kirk may have been shot. My son is running," she wrote.

"Charlie Kirk was hit. Blood coming out of his neck," an alleged witness from a Utah-based conservative media X page wrote.
A man whose daughter was allegedly at the event said she also saw him being shot in the neck. "Charlie Kirk was just shot at UVU while speaking. My daughter was in the crowd and saw it. He was shot in the neck. Pray for him and the students who are there," he wrote.
U.S. Sen. Mike Lee acknowledged the shooting on his official X page, writing, "I am tracking the situation at Utah Valley University closely. Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there."
