如何remain in contact once a year？

之前申请的I-140（EB1A）获批后，还没正式申卡就回国工作了，但暂时又想留着I-140别作废了。律师说我需要remain in contact with the National Visa Center once a year。这里“remain in contact”要联系NVC，但和他们说些啥呢？请问有人操作过么？多谢！
